Communication

Communication is a process by which people share information or transfer, convey or exchange ideas, opinions, feelings, facts or thoughts. Communication is very essential for everyone from all walks of life. To be able to communicate effectively is a skill. Decent communication skill enables us to pass information to another person and helps them to comprehend the messages and then interactions start. Information is transferred in diverse manners.
1) Verbal Communication
2) Nonverbal communication
3) Written communication
4) Visual communication

Verbal communication is the use of language to transfer information only using a confident speaking voice. Active listening is another side of using verbal communication. Nonverbal communication is the use of body language, gestures, facial expressions to convey information on to another. Written communication is the act of writing, typing or printing symbols to communicate. Visual communication takes place by using charts, graphs, maps or designs.
Communication is a two-way process between the sender and the receiver. A good communication system depends on the clarity of the messages. It avoids confusion and misunderstanding. Communication becomes successful when the receiver comprehends the message and responds to it.  This establishes meaningful interactions. To be able to communicate clearly and effectively is a very important life skill. For our career progression, we need to be well communicative. We should have the ability to speak clearly, listen actively, question logically, write appropriately, think relevantly, understand properly and write correctly.
Listening is an important part of communication skills by pausing for others to speak. Good communication skill promotes us personally and professionally. While appearing an interview, glancing for a job, retaining social relationships one should ascertain good communication skills. Poor communication skill causes hindrances and barriers to growth and development.
Good communication enhances our professional images, builds rapport in the society, influences the others, removes turmoil and brings harmony.
On the contrary, there is a huge negative wreck due to inadequate communication skills. If a message is wrongly delivered or inappropriately transferred, miscellaneous problems take place. While conversing with others, our voice should be audible. We should use varied vocabulary, amend pronunciations and accentuation. Furthermore, our handwriting should be legible and readable without errors in spellings. We should use grammatically correct sentences and correct punctuation marks. The communicating proficiency binds us together surpassing the boundaries, refraining the distance.
‘If all my possessions were taken from me with an exception- I would hope to keep my power of communication- for by it I would regain all the rest.’ Woody Allen
